Scandal after scandal is being unearthed about people closely knitted with BJP/Modi govt. In a recent exposure, Indian Union finance minister Arun Jaitley has cautioned the Central Bureau of Investigation on ICICI-Videocon bank fraud case. Mr. Jaitley is currently under treatment for soft tissue cancer in the US, however, his cautioning comments for corruption investigating department clearly indicate links/interests of BJP with the investigated persons. CBI is currently investigating ICICI-Videocon bank fraud case against former ICICI boss Mrs Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar and head of the Videocon group namely Venugopal Dhoot. Reportedly, Videocon group had received Rs 3,250 crore as loan from the ICICI bank in 2012.
Notably, a Union minister has offered advice to an agency on which he has no control whatsoever. His comments come at a time when the CBI is struggling to establish its autonomy. The fiasco in the agency over the last few months has led many to believe that the Modi government has left it high and dry because of constant interference. Modi/BJP’s vengeance against Ousted CBI director Alok Verma continues as he is likely to face a departmental action for defying ministry of home affairs order asking him to join as chief of Fire Services on day of his superannuation. According to officials, non-compliance of the directive amounts to violation of service rules for All India Services officers and Mr Verma may face suspension of pensionary benefits. Mr. Verma, was first moved out of the CBI by the government in a midnight order on October 23 last year on the recommendation of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) but was reinstated by the Supreme Court on 9 January 2019.
After the Supreme Court order, a high-power panel headed by PM Modi in a 2:1 decision removed Verma and asked him to join the residual term of the CBI director as DG Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards.
In a related story, another CBI official T. Rajah Balaji has sought a review of his transfer from the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to the CBI training academy in Ghaziabad. Mr Balaji was chief investigating officer of CBI who had found that the key two-page document, in which Naba Kumar Sarkar – aka Aseemanand – had explained the alleged Mecca Masjid blast case conspiracy to the CBI was missing. Balaji has complained that acting CBI Chief Rao (a handpicked of Modi) was behind his posting.
Finger raised over another contender of PM’s slot the incumbent National Security Advisor Ajeet Doval. His involvement in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stands exposed, whereas, in another startling exposure, a web based investigative mag “The Caravan” has recently revealed that Doval’s younger son namely Vivek Doval, runs a hedge fund (GNY Asia Fund) in the Cayman Islands (an established tax haven). The business is linked inextricably to businesses run by his brother Shaurya Doval, a BJP politician heading “the India Foundation” a think tank enjoying close proximity with Modi government. Incumbent National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is among the very few persons who have centralized power more than any of his predecessors in decades. Reportedly, he is also viewed as a contender for the slot of PM in case BJP succeeds in 2019 elections and Modi./.Amit Shah fall prey to corruption/murder cases investigations.
