Srinagar, June 1 (KMW): Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday convened a joint meeting executive council, general council and working committee members at conglomerate’s headquarters here.

In a statement to KMW a spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) said all the heads and representatives of Hurriyat constituents were present in the meeting. “The meeting took detailed stock of present political situation besides discussing the organizational matters.”
While terming the recent statements of Union Home Minister and External Affairs Minister regarding Kashmir dispute as contrary to the historical realities and situation on the ground, it was stated in the meeting that such statements were being made with an intention to deny the realities of political situation prevalent in South Asia.
“It was stated that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute present on the UN agenda and statements of denial about its existence by anybody can’t change this stark reality,” the statement said.
While rejecting the “unrealistic and aggressive approach” adopted by the Indian ruling class in handling the Kashmir issue it was stated that Kashmiris have always resisted such an approach and would continue to do so in future. The participants stated that Kashmiri people would not get cowed down by such an aggressive approach and would continue with their struggle for the right of self determination.
The participants stated that Kashmir continues to be on the agenda of UN and the world body has passed several resolutions providing a mechanism for the settle of this dispute.
The participants stated that the lingering Kashmir issue has been the main cause of tension and instability in the South Asian region and has led to armed conflicts between India and Pakistan in past causing enormous problems for the smooth and peaceful development of this region, adding, that the mention of the resolution of this issue is there in various agreements between India and Pakistan but these agreements could not bear fruit because of the non participation of Kashmiris.
The participants stated that Hurriyat (M) stand regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue is clear that it should be either by implementing UN resolution or through meaningful dialogue between all the three stakeholders i.e. people of Kashmir, Pakistan and India.
It was stated in the meeting that Hurriyat Conference has always been in favor of the resolution of Kashmir issue by peaceful means and through a result oriented dialogue but it should not be construed that by doing so Hurriyat begs for a dialogue, adding Hurriyat does not accept India’s “hegemonic approach” over Kashmir and the struggle of resistance would continue till the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
The participants also condemned attacks on mobile towers and telecom employees. They stated that those involved in such attacks can’t be well wishers of Kashmir cause.
