Srinagar, November 08: Metro Group of Hospitals, one of North India’s most reputed names in tertiary healthcare and medical innovation, has announced the launch of its Multi-Speciality OPD Services in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The services have been inaugurated at La Fe Medical Centre, Sidiq Abad, Lawaypora, near T.K. College, HMT, marking a major step toward expanding specialized healthcare access in the Valley.
The initiative aims to provide comprehensive consultations in cancer care, liver transplant, orthopaedics, and several other specialities, bringing expert medical guidance closer to patients in the region. The launch event was attended by senior leadership and eminent specialists from Metro Hospital Faridabad, including Dr Sana Tariq, Vice President of Metro Group of Hospitals; Dr Sumant Gupta, Senior Consultant and Head of Medical Oncology, Haematology and BMT at Metro Cancer Institute; Dr Shailendra Lalwani, Director and Head of Liver Transplant, HPB and GI Surgery; and Dr Ashok Dhar, Director of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement (Unit-I).
Speaking at the launch, Dr Sana Tariq said that the initiative reflects Metro Hospital’s commitment to ensuring advanced healthcare accessibility across India.
“Metro Hospital has always believed in bringing specialised care closer to communities. With the launch of our Multi-Speciality OPD in Srinagar, we aim to offer early diagnosis, expert consultation, and quality medical advice without forcing patients to travel long distances. This initiative marks the beginning of a sustained outreach to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” she stated.
Dr Sumant Gupta highlighted the importance of early intervention in oncology.
“Timely detection and evidence-based treatment are vital for improving survival outcomes in cancer patients. Through this OPD, residents of Srinagar will have access to our oncology expertise, regular follow-ups, and counselling support for complex cases,” he said.
Dr Shailendra Lalwani, who leads Metro’s Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery programme, emphasized that the Srinagar OPD will benefit patients requiring liver evaluations or post-surgical reviews.
“Our goal is to connect patients with the best possible care pathway, from initial assessment to surgery and long-term recovery, while reducing travel and waiting times,” he explained.
Dr Ashok Dhar, Director of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement, observed that the OPD would focus on rehabilitation and mobility for patients suffering from joint ailments.
“We aim to help patients regain independence and improve quality of life through personalized treatment and post-operative rehabilitation,” he remarked.
The La Fe Medical Centre, which has collaborated with Metro Hospital for this initiative, expressed enthusiasm about the project. Dr Gazal Anwar, Director of Medical Services at La Fe, said,

Dr Umar Gul, owner of La Fe Medical Centre, shared that the idea was developed in partnership with JK Hope Cancer Care Foundation led by Iqbal Hussain.

Metro Hospital Faridabad has announced that its Multi-Speciality OPDs in Srinagar will be conducted regularly, on the last Sunday of every month, ensuring continuity of care and consistent availability of specialist consultations.
