Kargil, November 01: Mera Yuva Bharat Kargil, District Youth Services & Sports department, Ladakh Police Kargil Jointly organized a spectacular District Level Mega Unity March today to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man, as part of the nationwide Sardar@150 Campaign.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation with more than 500 enthusiastic participants including students from various educational institutions, youth volunteers, ICDS workers, police personnel, government officials and members of civil society who came together to honor the legacy of Sardar Patel and celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon Kargil and Member of Parliament Ladakh, Mohd Hanifa Jan Kargil graced the occasion as chief guests and jointly flagged off the Unity March. Along with the SSP Kargil Shree Ram R (IPS), ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho (KAS) and District officers, Sectorial Head , Head of various educational institution were also present. The chief guests and other dignitaries also paid floral tributes at the commemorative portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel before the march commenced, marking the solemn remembrance of his contributions to nation building.
The ceremony was made more significant with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imteeaz Kacho, administering the Aatmanirbhar Pledge and Unity Day Pledge to all participants, reinforcing their commitment to self-reliance, national development, and unwavering dedication to the principles of unity that Sardar Patel championed throughout his life.
The Unity March, organized under the framework of the District Level Core Committee (DLCC), successfully brought together diverse sections of society, demonstrating Kargil’s commitment to the ideals of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The event not only commemorated Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary but also served as a platform for community engagement, youth empowerment, and strengthening the bonds of national unity. The enthusiastic participation of students, youth, and various stakeholders reflected the district’s dedication to preserving and promoting the values that Sardar Patel stood for.
This mega event is part of the broader Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India initiative, with MY Bharat serving as the nodal department for coordinating nationwide celebrations honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s extraordinary legacy and his vision of a united, strong, and prosperous India.
