Jammu: Expressing ‘no confidence’ on the Jammu and Kashmir police and government, the Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS) demanded a through probe by CBI into the killings and disappearance cases of the community members during two-decade-long turmoil.
In a letter to the State Human Rights Commission, KPSS president Sanjay Kumar Tickoo said Kashmiri Pandit community has no reason to trust the police department or the state government, who have failed to bring to book those involved in the killing and disappearance of pandits.
He sought the intervention of the commission and direction to the state government to reopen all cases and hand them over to CBI.
Mr Tikoo said the Kashmiri pandits were soft targets in the Valley during 90s, when dozens also disappeared and never returned.
He said because of the turmoil majority pandit families migrated to other parts of the country for their livelihood.
He said after a gap of more than 17 years, killing and disappeared cases of pandits remained unresolved.
Majority of these cases have been closed, he alleged and said nobody was booked or investigated.
