Srinagar, January 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) has welcomed the recent positive development wherein an interim body of three members was formed to put things in order at Kashmir Press Club.
The JKYJA said this development should have happened long before to end the uncertainty in club and to bring some sort of relief to the local journalists who faced undue discrimination at the hands of erstwhile elected body, who still were in charge even after their term ended long before.
The JKYJA said many deserving journalists and people associated with Media were barred membership by some particular members of the erstwhile body. The JKYJA said by glamorizing the words like “coup” “illegal and arbitrary take over” and taking the support of their masters in political class gives a bad taste, which results in misleading the common people.
The JKYJA said the recent tweets by political leaders’ over the recent positive development are just the methods of politicking and exhibits their dual character, who adopted criminal silence over the issues pertaining to journalists and even during their regimes paved ways for the humiliation and arbitration of journalists.
The JKYJA hopes that the emergence of new body, whosoever, will definitely end the discrimination and hegemony in Kashmir Press Club, reported over the years, and suggest interim body to gear up for elections as early as possible.
