J&K Bank conducts awareness camps in Shopian

Srinagar: J&K Bank FLCC Shopian conducted various financial literacy camps in the district at Kapran, Malhoora, Sedow and at Town Hall in district Shopian during the last few weeks.
The camps under the aegis of Lead Bank Office Shopian were organised in collaboration with district administration.
Kapran Camp
Organised in collaboration with District Agriculture Department, the camp at Kapran was attended by a large number of farmers, agriculturist and orchardists.
Speaking on the occasion, Facilitator FLCC Shopian M A Jan apprised the audience about the bank’s lending schemes in agriculture, horticulture sector with special focus on KCC.
Agriculture Extension Officer G M Shah presented an overview of schemes from the state government and other agencies for development of agriculture and horticulture in the state and particularly in district Shopian.
Malhoora Mela
The camp was organised in a ‘Horticulture Mela’ at Malhoora where in the chief Horticulture Officer Farooq Ahmad Mirza gave an overview of development in horticulture sector in the area.
He said that the area is fruit bowl of the state renowned for best quality apple worldwide.
He assured the orchardists of providing complete technical assistance with super quality pesticides, fertilizers and other equipment for growth of horticulture produce.
Incharge FLCC Shopian Mr. M A Jan deliberated exhaustively on the financial support provided by the Bank in the horticulture sector in the area.
More than 20,000 Kissan Credit Cards have been issued to growers in the district, he said.
The Bank aims to rid the people from clutches of outside middlemen and artias as timely and need based finance was easily available under the Bank schemes.
Town Hall Awareness Camp
FLCC Shopian organised the camp at town Hall Shopian in a grand employment fair conducted by District Employment and Counseling Centre in which representatives of all the line departments and Banks participated.
The stall of JK Bank was installed exquisitely in the compound which was visited by District Development Commissioner M Javeed Khan Shopian besides other participants.
Speaking on the occasion, M A Jan briefed the participants about contribution of the Bank in mitigating the curse of unemployment.
He assured them of generous finances under JKSES and other government sponsored schemes for establishment of productive ventures in all sectors.
DDC and the district coordinators of sponsored schemes hailed the role of J&K Bank and termed its contribution as the major source of finance for overall development of the state.
Sedow Camp
The camp at Sedow was organised in collaboration with District Handloom Department Shopian in a school ground.
People from local villages comprising of artisans, weavers, students and staff of school participated in the camp.
Speaking at the camp, M A Jan gave a full description of financial schemes available with the banks under Artisan Credit Card Scheme for establishing units of handloom/handicraft which have been significant part of export arts.
He also spoke about ACC scheme which has an interest subsidy of 10% for finances up to Rs 1 lac.
Assistant Director Handloom Department Shopian Javed Masoodi gave an overview of the schemes available with the department for uplifting standard of people by boosting traditional culture of handicrafts and handloom like weaving of Pashmina shawls, blankets and Rafal cloth.
Free looms are provided to the interested weavers, he added.
