Srinagar: Expressing his cynicism, the Chief Patron of Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Friday said the prevailing bonhomie between India and Pakistan seems to be all talk and of no substance.
In a statement issued to press here Inqilabi said India and Pakistan are engaged in bilateral talks to improve their ties. “But the ground situation suggests something different. We hear news about armies of both the countries exchanging fire on Loc on daily basis.â€
He said this standoff implies Kashmir is sitting on a powder keg.
“Those who talk of cross border trade of onions and potatoes want to further procrastination and status-quo in Kashmir. This trade won’t solve Kashmir dispute,†he added.
Inqilabi said martyrs of 13 July 1931 gave the message of sacrifice and self respect to Kashmiri nation. “We remember their selfless sacrifices and pay tributes to them and observe strike on 13 July every year.â€
Similarly he said 13 August is an important date in the history of Kashmir. “On 13 August 1948 UN passed resolutions favouring Kashmiris right to self-determination.â€
MeA patron said Kashmiris offered matchless sacrifices to attain the objective of right to self-determination. “Some of the freedom zealots offered sacrifices for the complete Independence while as some committed warriors did the same for accession with Pakistan. We have deep respect and regards for both of them.â€
He said UN resolution of 13 August 1948 offer unfettered right of self-determination to the Kashmiris. “We appeal all freedom loving people of Kashmir to observe 13 August 2012 as self-determination day.
MeA Patron said on that day rallies and processions will be carried out and an “exemplary strike on both sides of ceasefire will be observed.â€
Inquilabi appealed Ulema to stress on moral uprightness in their sermons.
