Indian Army organizes ice hockey tournament under Operation Sadhbhavana in Takmatan, Chiktan

Kargil, January 23: To encourage youth from remote areas to pursue sports Forever In operations Division with support of local community created an Ice Hockey Rink at Takmatan and provided requisite equipments at Chiktan.

Youth from various areas participated enthusiastically and wholeheartedly in the Ice Hockey Tournament held from January 20 to 23, 2025.

A total of 11 teams participated in the tournament. The final of the inaugural Army Cup of Ice Hockey was organized today by the Indian Army Forever in Operation Division under Operation Sadhbhavana at Takmatan, Chiktan.

The final matches were played between Samrah and Chiktan, where the Samrah boys’ team emerged as champions, and between Budhkharboo and Chiktan, where the Chiktan girls’ team claimed the title.

A speed skit was also organised for under 14 years children.

Several Army officers attended the event, along with SDM Shakar Chiktan, Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj, who was invited as a special guest to grace the occasion.

The SDM paid gratitude to Indian Army for organizing such a championship in Chiktan. He said such events promote brotherhood, physical and mental fitness among youth and engages them.

He assured all possible assistance from sub divisional administration and stressed upon more participation to take this championship to a larger scale in future. He also asked different social media channels to promote sports tourism in Chiktan.

Army representatives congratulated the public for turning out in large numbers despite the harsh weather, contributing to the success of the event.

The officers also congratulated all the participants and emphasized the importance of cultivating sportsmanship. They expressed their admiration for the stunning beauty of the area and were highly impressed by the talent of the local players.

The officers encouraged the public to support and promote such talent, enabling Chiktan to be represented on Union Territory, national, and international platforms. The event concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all the guests.
