Una: The Himachal Pradesh government is laying emphasis on overall development in the state, including women empowerment and healthcare facilities.

Addressing a meeting at Beetan in Una district, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal yesterday said women are being provided with maximum opportunities in different sectors to enable them to become partners in the development of the state.
The Chief Minister said “Sadak-Shiksha-Swasthya-Swarojgar -Swalamban-Swabhiman” was the theme of all the policies and programmes of the state to make Himachal Pradesh a role model of development in the country.
He said “Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Swasthya Yojna” had been launched in the state to ensure better health services to school going children in their schools itself.
Prof Dhumal said under “Atal Swasthya Sewa Yojna” free ambulance service was made available to the critically ill people, and the ambulance service had emerged as a life saver to the many pregnant women who were being safely taken to the nearest hospital, where not only the delivery was free but the medicine and transportation was also free.
He said pregnant women were also being provided free medical care and medical test facilities during pregnancy period and on delivery both mother and child would be eligible to avail free medical care facilities for one year.
The Chief Minister said the state government was providing subsidised electricity to the domestic consumers and was spending Rs 166 crore during the current financial year.
He said over Rs 150 crore were being spent on subsidised essential commodities to all the ration card holders. He said the BPL families were being provided with 38 types of life saving drugs free of cost besides extending them health cover.
