Srinagar: February 09: Authorities put seasoned leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Political Party (PPP), Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, under house detention on the eve of hanging anniversaries of Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.
Police officials informed the Engineer Hilal Ahmad War about his house detention on Monday evening and said that he can’t move out from his Maisuma residence.
This unlawful and illegal action by J & K Police to prevent Mr. War from expressing solidarity with the families these two heroes ( Bhat and Guru ) of Kashmir and staging peaceful protest to demand return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru.
The PPP spokesperson condemned the house detention and arrest of pro freedom leadership of Kashmir including party Chairman in strong words saying it amounted to State oppression and a denial of right to expression which tantamount to violation of Human Rights envisaged in Universal Declaration of Human Rights wherein India is a signatory.
