Hilal War Calls for Shutdown on January 21 against Gawkadal Massacre

Srinagar, January 08: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader and Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Political Party (PPP), Chairman, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War has called for a shutdown in entire Civil Lines area including Gowkadal, Maisuma, Lal Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Court Road, Ghoni Khan, Saraibala, Red Cross Road, Abi Guzar, Polo view, Residency Road and other adjoining areas on January 21, 2016 to mark the 26t Martyrdom Anniversary of Gowkadal martyrs.
Engineer Hilal said that this was the first massacre in Kashmir in which more than 52 innocent and unarmed civilians were martyred and more than 250 sustained bullet injuries by Indian troops on January 21, 1990.
Engineer Hilal said, ‘ the Gowkadal massacre was a well thought plan of the then Home Ministry of India which was aimed at to pave the way for Kashmiri Pandits’ exodus from Kashmir’. He further reiterated his statement that the conspiracy of Kashmiri Pandits exodus was hatched by the then Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Jagmohan in collaboration with Home Ministry of India. It is pertinent to mention that Home Ministry of India was then headed by PDP Chief Patron, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayyed.
Mr. War said not a single trooper involved in the Gowkadal massacre has been convicted or put behind the bars for committing crime against the humanity. He urges International Human Rights Organizations to set up an International Independent Tribunal to probe the Gawkadal Massacre so that the conspirators and perpetrators of this heinous crime should be unmasked and punished under International Humanitarian Law.

While condemning the brutal tactics of Indian armed forces to suppress the indigenous liberation movement of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the sacrifices rendered by people of Kashmiri Nation would not allow go waste for this pious and righteous cause.
“The Gowkadal massacre was a politically motivated project which carried its connection with the sustained killings in the length and breadth of J & K , like Handwara, Zukura , Bijbehara, Khanyar, Hazratbal , Sopore etc, he said”, the best way to pay the homage to the martyrs is to keep their Mission Kashmir alive.
