Health Minister pays surprise visit at Gandhinagar, Sarwal Hospital

JAMMU: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today paid surprise visit at Government Hospitals Sarwal and Gandhi Nagar to take stock of the functioning of these hospitals besides inspecting the facilities being provided to the patients.

During the inspection of these hospitals, the Minister found most of the doctors and para medicos not adhering to the dress code during duty hours and slapped a fine of Rs. 5000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 respectively to them. The fined staff included Dr. Usha from Gandhinagar Hospital, Dr. Vijay Sambyal, Senior Consultants and Jatinder Pal Singh, Sr. Lab Technician of Sarwal Hospital. He asked the concerned to fix time period for attendants’ visit so that the number of visitors could be reduced.
In both the hospitals, the Minister visited the emergency wards, surgery, ortho, gynae wards, sick and childcare units, SNCU units and blood banks and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients. He also interacted with the patients and their attendants.
Mr. Sham also enquired about the blood stock in the hospitals and was informed that 70 to 80 units of blood are available in the hospitals.
The Minister said that the government would bring more reforms to further improve the health delivery system in the state and exhorted upon the functionaries to put in their sincere efforts in achieving the set goals in healthcare sector. (KMW News)
