Kargil, May 06, 2024: General Observer 1-Ladakh Constituency, Harikesh Meena (IAS) along with Deputy Commissioner Kargil/District Election Officer, Shrikant Suse (IAS) today attended a training program for Micro Observers of Kargil for Lok Sabha General Elections and also visited various model and critical Polling Stations around Kargil town and its peripheries to assess the preparations for the election.
The General Observer while addressing the Micro Observers advised them to get thoroughly acquainted with guidelines and role of micro observers as envisaged by Election Commission of India and perform duty during poll day with outmost sincerity.
During the meeting, the Micro Observers were given detailed training related to role of micro observers , functioning of EVMs, checklist etc.
Micro observers will be deployed at all critical polling stations during polling.
Later, the General Observer along with DC Kargil visited various Polling Stations including Govt. High School Goma, High School Poyen, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Kargil and Govt. High School Baroo to check status of Assured minimum facilities.
Harikesh Meena (IAS) took a detailed assessment of assured minimum facilities required for the successful conduct of polling on the poll day.
He enquired about the feasibility of rooms, availability of drinking water, construction of ramps, electricity, washrooms, furniture, selfie point, signages, provision of wheelchair and other necessary facilities.
ACR/Deputy District Election Officer, Mohammed Sharif; Headquarter Assistant to DC and Nodal Officer Model PSs, Arifa Iqbal; Micro Observers besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
