JAMMU: Describing Republic day as historic, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand called for massive participation in the National event, adding that the day should be celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm.
He said the day marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of independent India and it is moral responsibility of all people to participate in large numbers.
Mr. Tara Chand said this while addressing a high level meeting to review the arrangements for forthcoming Republic Day Celebrations, here today.
Principal Secretary to the Governor Mr. R.K.Goyal, Commissioner/Secretary, PDD Mr. Basharat A. Dhar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner/Secretary, GAD Mr. M.S. Khan, Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education Mr. G.A. Peer, DIG Mr. Farooq Khan, heads of departments and senior officers from civil and police administration attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held for safe and smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations, including security and other important matters.
While addressing the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister asked all the concerned departments to ensure elaborate arrangements for the forthcoming national event. He directed the concerned to put in coordinated efforts for success of the event.
Mr. Tara Chand asked the Divisional Commissioner to monitor the arrangements on daily basis so as to ensure that all required arrangements are put in place well in time. He directed the authorities to ensure proper and timely arrangement of all basic amenities especially sanitation, cleanliness, healthcare, fire and emergency, drinking water and power supply.
Stressing on large scale participation in the event, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the administration to ensure that all the officers and officials attend should attend the national celebration.
He requested citizens to be part of the government celebrations in their respective areas and called upon them to host tricolour on their respective roof tops and public places, while giving due respect to the National Flag.
Other issues deliberated upon in the meeting included composition of parade contingents, cultural programmes, illumination, transport arrangements, seating arrangements, lighting arrangements, repair and renovation works, traffic, barricading etc.
