Div Com reviews functioning of train services in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, MARCH 10: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today held an officers meeting to review functioning of train services in Kashmir valley.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Area Manager, Deputy Director Tourism, ACR Budgam, AEE (PDD), Deputy Director Planning, Chief Town Planning officer, SSP PCR Kashmir, SP Railways and other concerned officers.
The meeting discussed threadbare several issues regarding operations of train services in the valley. Div Com was informed that in order to cope with huge rush of passengers additional 26 boggies and 6 engines have been received which would start functioning soon.
The Div Com was informed about the need for increase in frequency of trains during peak hours in morning and evening and enhancement in seat reservation in the trains for women, besides improvement in connection of railway stations with bus stands.
The railway officials informed the Divisional Commissioner that limited stop trains will be flagged-off in April.
Dr. Samoon stressed for better coordination between Railway and Police authorities for prior information regarding cancellation of trains. He also emphasized on measures to be taken for transparency in issuing train tickets, wide publicity regarding train timings through media, installation of additional CCTVs besides adequate security arrangements at Railway stations.
