Director Agri inaugurates sale of vegetable, flower seedlings

Srinagar, MARCH 09(KMW): Director Agriculture Kashmir formally inaugurated the sale of vegetable and flower seedlings from Kitchen Garden and Floriculture Nursery Lal Mandi here today.
According to a statement issued to KMW, On this occasion, the Director Agriculture Kashmir was informed that the seed production wing of the Department produced over 10 lakh seedlings of Knol Khol, Cauliflower, Cabbage and Onion under protected conditions, which are being supplied to the growers on nominal rates. Similarly about 1 lakh seedlings of various varieties of open pollinated and hybrid flowers are available for sale at the Floriculture Centre Lal Mandi.
Earlier, Director Agriculture inspected the Kitchen Garden along-with the team of senior officers including Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Director Rakhs & Farms and other senior officers & took stock of the production and availability of vegetable and onion seedlings in the Kitchen Garden. He urged the Incharge Vegetable Production, to utilize the whole area for seedling production round the year, so that same is kept available for the farmers.
While appreciating the previous years’ revenue realization targets of about Rs. 7 lakhs, the Director directed the concerned to set a target of Rs. 10 lakhs for the current year.
