Jammu, Mar 14(KMW): After inspecting progress of ongoing works at new Jail at Bhaderwah, DG Prisons Dilbagh Singh today visited District Jail Kishtwar to review the security. He was accompanied by Abrar Choudhary, SP Kishtwar, Perbeet Singh ASP, P.K. Choudary CO 82bn CRPF, Nissar Ahmed DySP Ops, Sameer Jeelani SHO Kishtwar, besides technical team from the headquarter and his staff officer.
Singh inspected the jail premises to assess the security requirements and note down the deficiencies in the infrastructure. The Superintendent Jail Mohd Ibrahim raised certain issues of immediate nature which were noted down and disposed off favourably, according to an official press release.
On-the-spot instructions were given to the accompanying technical staff and the district police head to coordinate the security and infrastructure requirements, involving all the stake holders in view of the overall security scenario. The District Jail Kishtwar, though new, has very less space for prisoners but with the experiment of double storeyed barracks for prisoners, capacity has been raised up to 100. Maintenance work wherever needed was ordered to be done immediately along with the additional minor renovations.
The DGP also had a visit of old structure where earlier Sub Jail was functioning and issued instructions to the Technical team to come up with proper utilization plan of the site which is presently used for residential purpose.
The two district jails, Bhaderwah and Kistwar, are located in the hilly terrain of Chenab Valley and have their own importance. District Jail Kishtwar is catering to the needs of District Kishtwar including far flung areas of Marwah and Dachan and the new District Jail coming up at Bhaderwah will go a long way in catering to the much awaited needs of the twin districts of Ramban and Doda, as per the official communique. The infrastructure of District Jail Bhaderwah has been planned with the same perspective in mind .
In the afternoon a meeting was held at the Police Headquarter Kishtwar to discuss various security related issues.
