Kargil, August 1: In a significant step towards ensuring the strict enforcement of tobacco control laws, the District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Kargil, carried out the official destruction of seized tobacco products today, August 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM. The event took place at the DTCC Office, Old District Hospital, and Kargil.

The enforcement activity was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Fatima Nissa, District Nodal Officer (NTCP), and Mr. Masood Ahmad, District Consultant (NTCP), along with the active participation of the following officials and representatives of the COTPA Enforcement Committee:

The seized tobacco products were confiscated during routine enforcement drives conducted across various locations in the district for violating provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003—particularly those relating to the sale of tobacco near educational institutions, sale to minors, and sale of non-compliant or banned tobacco products.
