Srinagar, April 21: Putting all speculations at rest, the postmortem report has shown ‘bullet injuries’ as the casue of death of Tral youth Khalid Muzaffar Wani.
Khalid according to Army was killed after militants fired upon a patrolling party in South Kashmir’s Kamala Forest of Tral town on April 14 this month. Khalid had reportedly gone to the forest along with his three friends to meet his militant brother Burhan. However, the father of Khalid had accused Army of torturing his son. Wani had said that his son was arrested and tortured to death and according to him there were no bullet marks on the body of Khalid.
Reliable sources informed that the postmortem conducted by doctors have maintained that Khalid has died due to bullet injuries. Sources added that the postmortem report maintains that it were the bullet injuries that took the life of Khalid Muzaffar Wani.
An Army official from Chinar Corps told news agency that Chief Minister had stated that reality will surface and, “the realities of the Tral Encounter have started getting clearer. The post mortem report puts bullet injuries as the cause of death, thus rebutting the claims of Muzaffar Wani, father of Khalid Wani that there were no bullet marks and Khalid died due to torture. Even three youth who were taken along by Khalid to facilitate their meeting with Burhan have deposed before the judicial magistrate maintaining their original position that they were taken to forest by Khalid and that when they revealed their identity to soldiers, they were taken to safety,†the official said.
Responding to a question, the Chinar Corps official said that, “if Khalid was innocent then what he was doing with a group of militants. It is totally injustice to blame security forces for something which they never do,†he said.
The Army official alleged that, “Muzaffar Wani’s assertions were merely propaganda to arouse passion, leading to further unrest and killing of another youth in Narbal and many more getting injured.â€
