Kargil, October 10: Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today conducted surprise inspections of various Government institutions in Drass, including High School Pandrass, High School Muradbagh, Higher Secondary School Drass and the Sub-District Hospital of Drass in order to assess their functioning and to ensure accountability. He was accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Drass, Vishal Atri, JKAS.
At High School Pandrass, the Deputy Commissioner found that several teachers had not maintained their diaries while some were unauthorizedly absent despite their attendance being marked. Further, he directed the Principal to obtain signatures from parents on students’ leave applications and to monitor the attendance of students closely. He also instructed the Chief Education Officer, Kargil, to seek explanation from the absentee teachers and with-hold their salaries until further clarification.
At High School Muradbagh, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed staff attendance and diary maintenance. He expressed satisfaction over teacher presence but instructed that explanation be sought from those who failed to maintain their diaries. He also took stock of the ongoing remedial classes and expressed satisfaction with their progress. To ensure uninterrupted winter classes, he directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Drass to make proper arrangements for drinking water supply.
During his interaction with students, the Deputy Commissioner received positive feedback regarding night classes. The students also thanked the SDM or timely addressing the water supply issues.
At Higher Secondary School Drass, the DC inspected the cleanliness of the school premises and directed the Principal to maintain hygiene and ensure proper heating arrangements for the upcoming winter season. He reviewed the teaching plan and instructed staff to maintain it regularly.
Later, he visited the Sub- District Hospital of Drass where he found good cleanliness and staff attendance as per the duty roster.
