Srinagar, Feb 14: Residents of Sikanderpora in Rainawari, near Zaroo Gun Factory, have voiced strong resentment over a damaged main water supply pipeline that has remained unattended for nearly two months, allegedly despite repeated complaints to the concerned authorities.

According to locals, the rupture in the main distribution line has led to continuous leakage of potable water, causing flooding of residential houses, submergence of roads, and overflow of drainage channels. The situation has created serious inconvenience for the inhabitants and disrupted normal daily activities in the area.

Residents allege that multiple representations and verbal complaints have been made to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department; however, no remedial action has been initiated so far. “Despite frequent requests and follow-ups, the grievance has not been addressed. The water continues to flow wastefully while our houses and streets remain waterlogged,” said a local resident.

The prolonged negligence has raised concerns regarding possible structural damage to properties, contamination of drainage systems, and public health hazards.
The aggrieved residents have appealed to higher authorities to take immediate cognizance of the issue and direct the concerned department to undertake urgent repair and restoration work without further delay.
