Muslims in Rajouri took exception to this action, saying that the flag bore verses of the Holy Islamic scripture written on it.

Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said there was nothing wrong in torching the flag of a terrorist organisation like the ISIS, but added that those who torched the flag did not know it had verses of the Holy Scripture written across.

Clashes had erupted in the town as youth of two communities attacked each other on Monday after which authorities clamped an indefinite curfew in the town.

Elders of the two communities had met on Thursday in presence of state Minister Zulfiqar Chowdhary to defuse the tension in the town.
