CS reviews progress on ITC Pampore

Srinagar, Feb 18 (KMW): Chief Secretary, Mr. Iqbal Khandey on Wednesday asked JKPCC to re-visit cost estimates and business plan of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Sempore-Pampore, taking into consideration cost escalations and new features that have been added to the facility and place it before the next meeting of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be held in March.
According to a statement issued to KMW, Chairing the 1st meeting of SPV of the International Trade Centre, Mr. Khandey said that once the revised DPR vetted by Development Commissioner Works is placed before the SPV for deliberations and approval for the same shall be submitted to the Union Government for funding the project at the earliest.
The International Trade Centre spread over 371 kanals was conceived as a facility for holding exhibitions, fairs, buyer-seller meets etc in order to give significant fillip to handicraft and handloom exports and provide all kinds of opportunities to the business community for promoting trade and commerce.
The facility will have Mega Exhibition Halls, Handicraft Marts, Bazar, Convention Centre and offices, School of Design and Museum, Auditorium, Re-creation and Children’s Park, Food Courts, kiosks besides the Centre will have Police Post, Fire Station, Scanner for Vehicles, Bank and ATMs, Parking facilities and other support services for exhibitor and visitor comfort all within the same aesthetically designed complex.
The proposed Master Plan envisages multi-purpose facility for industry exhibitions and fairs, and once completed the ITC at Pampore will offer its exhibitors services and amenities of the highest quality on par with international standards.
Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Khurshid A Ganai, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary, Finance, Mr. B. B. Vyas and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
