COAS clarification welcomed in democratic circles: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that the statement by Army Chief Kayani was welcomed in democratic circles.

The prime minister was referring to a statement by COAS in which General Kayani had dismissed speculation about a military takeover.

“There will definitely be an improvement because of it,” Gilani said.

Prime Minister Gilani said that the season of rumours would end in March, which is when Senate elections are scheduled.

The prime wished Javed Hashmi success on joining the PTI.
