NUSA DUA: U.S. President Barack Obama spoke with Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday evening and will send Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Myanmar next month, a senior administration official said on Friday.
The official said Obama and Suu Kyi, in their first ever conversation, reviewed progress made in Myanmar, or Burma, since her release from house arrest.
“It was important to the president that she welcomes this deeper engagement by the U.S.,” the official said.
