Chief Secretary Ladakh Visits Drass, Reviews work of Tourism Site and Pays Tribute at Kargil War Memorial

Kargil, September 22: Chief Secretary Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS, today visited Drass and took stock of a cultural site of national importance.

Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; CEO Tourism Development Authority Kargil (TDAK), Nargis Bano; SDM Drass, Vishal Atri;,Executive Engineer TDAK, Morup Dorjey; Councillor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, beside others accompanied the Chief Secretary.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary inspected the ongoing work at the Bhim Stone site at Bimbhat, Drass, where he directed the officials of Tourism Development Authority Kargil to ensure the preservation of its traditional and cultural importance. He further asked for redesigning the project, highlighting that the site holds immense potential to boost tourism as visitors of diverse faiths are likely to be attracted to the historical location associated with Bhim.

Later, Dr. Kotwal visited the Kargil War Memorial, where he paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War. At the memorial, he also visited the Hut of Remembrance and the Wall of Fame. He appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army in maintaining the site with dignity and creating a space that inspires patriotism and respect.

The Chief Secretary lauded the Indian Army’s role in turning the War Memorial into a place of national pride, remembrance, sacrifice and unity.
