Leh, June 8, 2026: The Changthang Expedition, featuring BMW Motorrad riders, was officially flagged off from the iconic Shanti Stupa, Leh, by Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, Administrative Secretary, Tourism, UT Ladakh. The expedition includes 19 accomplished riders from Maharashtra, recognized for their expertise in long-distance and high-altitude motorcycling, who have embarked on an extraordinary high-altitude journey across Ladakh’s remote and pristine Changthang region.

The Changthang Expedition offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Ladakh’s most breathtaking landscapes. Stretching across the vast high-altitude plateau of eastern Ladakh, the region is defined by its dramatic terrain, sweeping open horizons, and renowned destinations such as the shimmering Pangong Tso and the tranquil Tso Moriri lakes. The expedition route also includes traversing Umling La, among the highest motorable roads in the world, and a visit to Hanle, home to India’s first Dark Sky Reserve and a world-class astronomical observatory, known for its exceptional stargazing conditions.
