In a significant development, The Government of India has announced the appointment of Syed Latif as the new Judicial Member of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). The decision comes as part of a broader effort by the government to strengthen and enhance the functioning of administrative bodies.

Syed Latif, a distinguished advocate, has been appointed to this crucial position for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge, or until he reaches the age of 67, whichever comes first. His appointment is in accordance with the provisions of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2021, and the rules framed thereunder.

The appointment order, released by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, specifies that Syed Latif is set to assume the role of Judicial Member at the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Srinagar Bench. The order further emphasizes that he is required to join his duties within 30 days from the date of issue, failing which the appointment will be considered void.
