CEC Kargil Flags Off Water Tankers to Boost Drinking Water Facilities in District Kargil

Kargil, June 28: In a major step toward improving essential public services in the region, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today flagged off three water tankers to enhance drinking water supply in Kargil. 

The vehicles were commissioned under the Special Development Package (SDP) and the Water Tax Revenue sector, facilitated through the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Kargil Division.

Addressing the gathering at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Akhoon highlighted the significance of the initiative, especially in light of the increased water demand during the holy month of Muharram. He noted that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental public necessity, and the administration remains committed to strengthening such critical services.

He commended the PHE Department for its proactive efforts in ensuring the timely procurement and deployment of the tankers, calling it a significant contribution to public welfare.

The event witnessed the presence of senior officials, including Chief Engineer PHE/I&FC Mohd Abass, Assistant Executive Engineers Zakir Hussain and Ahmed Ali from the PHE Department, and Syed Jaffer, Junior Engineer from the Mechanical Department, among others.

The new water tankers will be deployed across various localities in Kargil, with a focus on areas facing water scarcity. This move is part of the broader developmental strategy of the LAHDC Kargil to ensure sustainable and equitable access to essential services for all residents. 

The administration reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading infrastructure and delivering impactful public welfare programs in a timely manner.
