Dr. Akhoon also emphasized the need for men and machinery to remain on standby for any emergency deployment during heavy snow conditions. He stated that, with concerted efforts from the District Administration, LAHDC Kargil, and Project Vijayak, every possible measure will be taken to keep the Zojila axis functional to the maximum extent during winter.

Later, the CEC inspected the ongoing works at the Zojila Tunnel. The concerned officers briefed him that approximately one and a half kilometres of excavation work remain, and both tunnel ends are expected to be connected by May or June next year.
