Patna, Oct 2 Soon after release of caste census report in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav demanded the Central Government to carry out National level caste census.
Yadav told media persons here that as per commitment, Grand Alliance government in Bihar conducted caste based survey successfully and its report was released on pious day of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Survey was conducted scientifically and data collected during the exercise would be used by Government to roll out welfare schemes for those who lagged behind on path of development and prosperity, he said.
“We demand the Centre to carry out national level caste census at the earliest”, Deputy Chief Minister said adding that general census was scheduled to be done in 2021 but it was not conducted so far.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had rejected the demand for national level caste census, placed before him by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, leading all party delegations from Bihar in 2021, he added.
Yadav said that BJP had tried its best to create hurdles in conducting caste census in Bihar but strong determination of Grand Alliance government removed all hurdles to pave the way for caste census.
He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Kumar and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav for their conviction to ensure successfully carrying out caste based survey in Bihar.
The Deputy CM also recalled the efforts made by Late Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sharad Yadav which converted the dream of caste census into reality.
He said that an all party meeting to discuss caste census report would be convened soon as announced by the Chief Minister.
Yadav also called on Nitish Kumar to discuss future course of the action on the basis of caste based survey report.
