Srinagar: A grenade attack by militants on a police station in north Kashmir on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road left seven people, including four police personnel wounded last night, official sources said here.
The grenade attack came 24 hours after a high-level Core Group meeting was held at the headquarters of 15 Corps to discuss sudden increase in the militant attacks in the Kashmir valley. The Independence Day will be celebrated on August 15, at the headquarters when separatist had called for strike.
Sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards police station Pattan on the highway resulting in injuries to four police personnel and three civilians.
All the injured were admitted to different hospitals.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, they said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
This was the sixth such attack in the Valley during the past two weeks.
The meeting was attended among others by Lt General Om Prakash, GOC 15 Corps and Director General of police Ashok Prasad.
