Srinagar, August 16: Two Border Security Force (BSF) men were killed and four others injured after militants attack their vehicle near air base in Quil area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday afternoon.
Official sources told that militants opened heavy fire upon a BSF Gypsy bearing registration number WB74J3708 near higher secondary school Quil Pulwama.
In the attack, six BSF men of 165 bn sustained critical injuries and were immediately shifted to nearby hospital where two of them succumbed to injuries, sources said.
The two slain BSF men have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rudal Yadav and Head Constable Subedar Yadav Singh.
He said that they have sustained grave bullet injuries and both succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
He identified the other four injured persons as Head Constable Jai Prassad, Constable Prabjot Singh, Constable Vinod Kumar (Driver) and Constable Amar Singh.
All the injured persons were immediately shifted to army’s 92 Base Hospital here in Srinagar.
Soon after the attack, army, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the whole area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, government forces have asked to remain extra vigilant across all volatile parts of Kashmir including Srinagar city after the attack.
Sources said that the unarmed policemen in Srinagar city were asked to remain inside their cantonments while the armed cops were deployed on main roads in the city.
They said that barricades have been erected at several junctions across the city and all the entry and exit points with policemen frisking pedestrians and motorcyclists.
