Srinagar, Oct 3: For the first time in Kashmir history the followers of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadyani also known as Ahmadiyya are planning to hold a ‘Peace Symposium’ at SKICC Srinagar on October 10 this month and for this purpose on the directions of Sadr Anjuman Ahmadiyya Punjab, ‘Ahmadiyya Jamaat Srinagar’ has written a formal letter vide number AMS/292 to District Development Commissioner Srinagar seeking permission from district administration to hold this ‘symposium.’
In a written communiqué to DDC Srinagar, copy of which lies with CNS, ‘Ameer Ahmadiyya Jammat Srinagar’ Ibrahim Shah claims that, “our supreme head Mirza Masroor Ahmed is holding a series of peace symposia across India in which the fundamental message of peace is put forth in the ‘Islamic’ perspective and besides this the leaders of other religions are also given chance to put forward their perspective in this regard. As an extension of the efforts, we are planning to hold a ‘Peace Symposium’ at SKICC, Srinagar on October 10, 2015.”
Ibrahim Shah in his letter to administration claims that they are planning to invite VIP’s like the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and people from various fields of the society. “Attempt is also being made to invite people at the helm of affairs like the Ministers, Parliamentarians, intellectuals, people from other pivotal departments like police personnel, academicians and journalists. It is requested to grant permission to hold the Peace Symposium at SKICC on October 10 (Saturday),” the letter reads.
A top official from the District Administration informed that the copies of the letter have been forwarded to ADC Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and SP West for the necessary comments.
When contacted in charge Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah told CNS that it is a serious matter and they are examining it. “Till date we have not given any such permission to Ahmadiyya Jammat,” he said. (CNS)
