After the windstorm, violent tragedies shake the valley

Srinagar: Thursday gave yet another jolt to the people who were trying to compose themselves after the terror of the tempest. Many violent encounters were today witnessed in Kashmir with both the north and south Kashmir getting involved in the clutches of tragedies.
The North of the valley witnessed a fierce encounter in Chanderhama Tehsil Pattan of District Baramulla, between the militant outfit (L-e-T) and the security forces, wherein a local militant has been killed so far. The police claimed to have acted on specific information about the presence of armed militants in Chanderhama area of Pattan. Subsequently Police assisted by security forces laid a siege of the area, this afternoon. The advance party was fired upon by the holed up militants, which was retaliated upon and in the ensuing encounter, one Lashkar-e-toiba militant, Nissar Ahmad Magray alias Shakti son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Kilwara-Tangmarg, was killed. As per police media reports one AK-47 rifle, 02- AK Magazines, 02- grenades and some rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered from the possession of the killed militant. The encounter was going on, when reports last came in.
In another tragedy of its kind, one Sajad Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Sangram-pora Sopore ,who was presently undergoing detention under the Public safety Act-PSA at District jail kupwra, had complained of some ailment this morning , following which, he had been taken to District Hospital Kupwara, where from he had been further referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar for further treatment. The said person however reportedly expired this afternoon during examination by the doctors.

On the other hand south Kashmir this afternoon witnessed a fierce car blast near Bijbehara Police Station which too has claimed a civilian life so far and has rendered as many as 26 people critically injured. The identity of the deceased person could not be ascertained, however, the injured were identified as, Ghulam Mohamad Danger son of Abdul Gaffar resident of Bijbehara, Ashiq Kabri son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Tral, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Abdul Ghani resident of Panzalpora-Bijbehara, Ghulam Qadir Singh son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Bijbehara, Asif, Misra wife of Ghulam Qadir Singh resident of Bijbehara, Manzoor Ahmad Najar resident of Chursoo and others. The injured security forces personnel include- Constable Bajrang, Sanjeev and another constable whose identity could not be ascertained. All of them belong to Central Reserve Police Force-CRPF, 90 Battaliion, who were deployed on Road Opening duties. Further details on the matter are still are awaited.
It is symbolic of the fact that both the gates of the summer capital viz, north and south have been simultaneously attacked giving a signal towards a strong presence of militant organizations within Kashmir, which the authorities especially the security forces had been denouncing recently.(KMW NEWS)
