Advisor concludes 2-day visit to Kashmir
SRINAGAR, MARCH 10: Advisor to Governor, Mr Parvez Dewan on Thursday said that addressing public grievances is on high priority for the government.
“We make sure to reach out to as many people as we can to address their grievances,” Mr Dewan told hundreds of people, who had come to meet him at PWD Guest House here.
“I would like all my officials and heads of the departments to hold regular meetings with the public and address their grievances on priority,” he said and added that people shouldn’t feel dejected and whatever genuine demands come from them should be addressed by the officials immediately.
Dewan, who was camping in Srinagar for the past two days to attend to public grievances, said the government is making all efforts reach out to the people and address their grievances. “We are making efforts to remain available for public, listen to their grievances and come up with solutions,” Dewan said.
He reiterated that in order to save the expenses of individual applicants and deputations from Kashmir, the Governor has ordered that the Advisors should travel to the State’s summer capital regularly. However, he urged the gathering that applicants and people should come with the problems and grievances pertaining to his departments only.
“When I get applicants or deputations which don’t fall under my purview, I feel bad for them and it also disturbs the time schedule of others who come from really far off areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, several deputations and hundreds of individuals called on the Advisor and apprised him of their grievances. People put forth their demands pertaining to Health, Education, R&B, Tourism, road connectivity, drug addiction, and other amenities. The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the projected demands and asked the concerned officers to take adequate measure for time bound redressal of the same.
A delegation of TB Control Association of Jammu and Kashmir also called on the Advisor and demanded government intervention into their grievances. Association of Engineers urged the Advisor to look into their long pending demands. Humanity First, a civil society forum from central Kashmir’s Budgam district apprised the advisor about the health scenario in the district.
Other delegations and deputations that called on the Advisor included Floor Mill Association and Civil Society forums from various districts across Kashmir.
The Advisor assured them that every possible support will be provided to them by the government. The advisor was flanked by Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sameer Mattoo, senior administrative officials from Department of Education, Tourism, Health, R&B.
