Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police seized about four thousand bottles of liquor from a truck in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said here today.
They said acting on a tip-off, police established a naka at Qaimoh in Kulgam in south Kashmir yesterday.
They said the naka party signalled a truck to stop for checking but the driver stopped the vehicle at a distance and escaped under the cover of darkness.
Later, during the checking of the truck, police seized 3816 bottles of Bagpiper and Officer Choice Whisky.
They said during the scrutiny of documents in the truck, it was found that challan purported to contain 106 potatoes.
But during checking only 30 sacks were found in the vehicle which had been loaded in the rear to conceal the liquor.
A massive hunt has been launched to nab the driver, they said.
