Srinagar, May 11, KMW: A lower Court in Srinagar has acquitted former cop Abdul Rashid Shigan alias Omar Mukhtar of Lachaman Pora Batmaloo and others in Killing of former DSP Abdul Hamid Bhat.
Court has issued orders in this regard.
Pertinently, the 205 page verdict would be pronounced tomorrow . Abdullah Pandith and Mohammad Rafiq Joo were the defense lawyers in the case.
While talking to our Legal news Correspondent, Mohammad Rafiq Joo, Defense lawyer stated – “The public prosecutors failed to present any evidence in this case and we are happy that our clients have been acquitted in the case.”
Importantly few time back, With the arrest of Abdul Rashid Shigan and others in August 2012 and others Police at that time had claimed of solving high include high profile attacks on the then three ruling national Conference (NC) functionaries including the then Minister of Law and Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, in which one constable had died.
According to the details provided by Sahai, Omar Mukhtar and his group had also gunned down retired Dy SP Abdul Hamid Bhat of Firdausabad Batamaloo on 10-08-2012, NC’s Block President of Nattipora, Ghulam Mohammad Lone, on 2-12-2011, ASI Sukhpal Singh at Safakadal on 20-4-2012, NC worker Bashir Ahmed of Dhobi Mohalla Batamaloo on 24-12-2011 and Inspector of Police Telecommunication Wing, Shabir Ahmad, at Bemina on 29-6-2011.
And after that all eyes were set on the verdict.
