4th LG Cup Ice Hockey Championship 2024-25 begins in Kargil

Kargil, January 16, 2025: Executive Councillor, Revenue, LAHDC, Kargil Kacho Mohd Feroz today inaugurated the 4th edition of LG Cup Ice Hockey Championship 2024-25 here at Ice Hockey Rink, Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium, Biamathang, Kargil.

The championship will conclude on January 20. The first match was played between LSRC Army Team and Royal Chiktan in the presence of hundreds of ice Hockey enthusiasts.

Executive Councillor, Zanskar Affairs, Er. Punchok Tashi; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubadavi; SE R&B; SE PHE and other district officers were present at the inaugural day.

“These games, with teams from both Leh and Kargil participating, not only promote sportsmanship and physical health but also serve as an important platform for cultural exchange,” said EC Feroz.

He assured that the LAHDC Kargil would provide all possible support for the promotion of Ice Hockey, a source of tourism promotion.

The EC has directed the concerned department to provide all possible facilities to the visiting team from Leh. 

In his address, the Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports stated that the championship features four boys’ teams from both Leh and Kargil, as well as two girls’ teams from the two districts.

He further informed that the Administration is developing Ice Hockey rinks at various locations in Kargil district for the promotion of Ice Hockey.
