Srinagar: Chairman Peoples Conference, Sajad Lone Saturday declared that he would contest the 2013 Assembly Elections from Handwara Constituency.
Addressing a gathering in his native village, Bandi Mohalla, Handwara, Sajad Lone said he would contest 2014 Assembly Elections against present Minister Chodri Mohammad Ramzan from Handwara constituency. “It is my father’s constituency whom people used to elect by heart. Now I will contest from my father’s constituency,†Lone said.
He said the present government ignored Handwara completely. “Chodri Ramzan was made ‘casual minister’ fro one and a half year. Ali Mohammad Sagar who won 2008 elections by a meager margin was given ministerial berth right from the beginning but Chodri Ramzan was insulted and ignored by the government,†he said.
Coming down heavily on National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, Lone said during militancy when every Kashmiri was suffering, only “Shiekh and Mufti†families survived and enjoyed life with the support of New Delhi. “It is strange and pity that still these two families rule in Kashmir.
