Geelani calls for shutdown on 6 and 7 September

Srinagar: In an important development, Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani today called for two day strike across Kashmir valley against the continuous arrest of political leaders and youth.
It is worth mentioning here that Geelani announced the call while addressing thousands of people at Baramulla bus stand after Friday prayers.
Lashing out at the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led coalition government, he said that the promised made by the Chief Minister proved to be hoax as no political leader or youth were released as announced ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“The announcement to release youth and political leaders was an eye wash,” he said.
He appealed to the people not to resort to any act of violence during the shutdown.
