The demolition of the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is one of Israel’s strategic plans, will probably lead to the Third Intifada, says renowned Palestinian rights activist Jamal Juma, head of Stop the Wall Campaign from Ramallah, said in an interview with Press TV that “this is something the Palestinians cannot be tolerant with,†adding that “for Palestinians the al-Aqsa Mosque is the symbol of everything†and they cannot imagine their life without this holy place.
“This is kind of a strategic plan that Israel has. There is an Israeli already established organization just to rebuild the temple in the same place where al-Aqsa is. We hope that Intifada breaks all over Palestine and changes all policies in the region,†he stated.
Juma further noted that it should be shown to the Israelis that “the Islamic world and the Arab world will not be tolerant with this issue,†otherwise Israel will go rapidly into destroying al-Aqsa.
“We have tunnels under al-Aqsa Mosque. We have invasions everyday to al-Aqsa Mosque. So that is why the Palestinians believe strongly that it is going to be happening. That is the fear of every single Palestinian,†he said.
The commentator argued that “the next Intifada also is going to be because of al-Aqsa.â€
An overwhelming majority of the Palestinian population feel that the al-Aqsa Mosque is in imminent danger of being destroyed by Israel. Over the past decades, the Tel Aviv regime has tried to change the demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites and expelling the local Palestinian population.
