Traffic resumes on Manali-Leh highway

New Delhi: Traffic on the 475- kilometer long Manali- Leh Highway has been fully restored, Lokinder Singh Chauhan, managing director, Himachal Tourism Development Corporation said here today.

He said that there was no extensive damage to the national Highway due to recent flash flood and cloud burst in the Kullu –Manali -Keylong area. There was minor damage near Palchan 10 Km. away from Manali, which has been fully restored.

The Himachal Tourism Development Corporation has started operating Deluxe bus to Leh from Manali and back.

Tourist hotels in Kullu, Manali and other parts of the state are doing normal business, he claimed.

Chauhan said, the tourist season has picked up in snow bound Lahaul valley which remains cut off due to heavy snowfall during winters and the corporation was also offering 25% special monsoon discounts in its hotels located in Kullu, Manali, Naggar and Keylong.
